The Siemens ACUSON SC2000 PRIME is a cardiovascular ultrasound system for 2D and 4D transthoracic, transesophageal and intracardiac echocardiography. It is designed for structural heart disease work, with TrueFusion echo-fluoro guidance and AI-powered eSie measurement packages. The PRIME edition added the Z6Ms 4D TEE transducer and eSie Valves to the SC2000, both offered as upgrades for earlier systems.

What to check when buying a used Siemens ACUSON SC2000 PRIME
Test every TEE probe for leakage and wear
A TEE probe with cuts, tears, fraying or loose parts must not be used, and V5Ms probes were recalled for deterioration of the material covering the articulating section.
How: Get a leakage test result for each TEE probe offered, and inspect the insertion shaft, distal tip and articulating section for cuts, tears, fraying, wear or loose parts.
Check each Z6Ms sleeve, serial number and leakage
Recall Z-0667-2017 covered Z6Ms probes for acquisition errors and deterioration of the material covering the articulating section, and a later report traced a failed leakage test to a hole in the articulation sleeve.
How: Compare the probe's serial number with the production changes that moved the sleeve from C-Flex to Viton and addressed Gastro-flex circuit corrosion, then check the sleeve for holes or wear and get a leakage test.
Confirm the MPI board fix before using V5M
With MPI board version 4, recall Z-1081-2013 found the V5M transducer's displayed temperature could read lower than its actual temperature, with a risk of esophageal burns.
How: Read the MPI board revision and ask for the service record showing Siemens exchanged the affected board.
Check the user interface module is firmly attached
Recall Z-0824-2014 found the user interface assembly could work loose, and the whole module could fall off the system.
How: On units in the recall's serial range, look for any looseness where the module attaches to the column, and stop using a system that shows it.
Common questions about the Siemens ACUSON SC2000 PRIME
Is the Siemens ACUSON SC2000 PRIME FDA-cleared?
Yes. It is FDA-cleared under 510(k), and its clearances use the device name ACUSON SC2000 Diagnostic Ultrasound System rather than the PRIME name. K142628, decided October 10, 2014, added the Z6Ms transducer that came with the PRIME edition to the SC2000 cleared under K132654.
Later clearances include K211726, decided November 5, 2021, for software VC11 (v6.1) with syngo TrueFusion 2.0, and K233613, decided June 12, 2024, for AcuNav Crystal and SoundStar Crystal catheter compatibility on v6.5 (VC15).
Has Siemens ended support for the ACUSON SC2000 PRIME?
Not by name. The ACUSON SC2000 is on Siemens Healthineers' US end-of-support list, with an upgrade to the ACUSON Origin, but that entry does not name the PRIME and gives no date.
Is the AcuNav Volume ICE catheter only for the ACUSON SC2000 PRIME?
Yes. Siemens Healthineers offers the ACUSON AcuNav Volume ICE Catheter, a 4D intracardiac catheter, exclusively on the ACUSON SC2000 PRIME, and the system needs Release 5.1 or later to run it.
