What to check when buying a used Samsung RS85 Prestige

  1. Test the wheels and the central lock

The central lock holds this heavy console in place, so a lock that slips lets the cart roll during a scan.

How: Roll the cart on each swivel wheel, then press the single lock pedal and push on the console; a wheel that drags or a lock that lets the console move is a fault.

  2. Search FDA's recall database for the RS85

A recall bears on every unit of the model, and the RS85 Prestige is FDA-cleared under the RS85 name.

How: Search FDA's Medical Device Recalls database for RS85 and read any record it returns; an earlier search of that term found none.

  3. Confirm which optional features the unit has

MV-Flow, EzExam+, S-Shearwave Imaging, S-Fusion and other features are options that may require additional purchase, so two units can differ in what they do.

How: On the unit itself, open and run each option you need; one that is absent is not part of that unit's configuration.

  4. Confirm which main monitor the unit carries

The OLED main monitor is an option that may require additional purchase, so a unit may carry it or the standard wide-screen LCD.

How: Look at the main monitor and match its size and panel to the configuration you are offered; the option is the larger OLED screen.
