What to check when buying a used Mindray TE7 Max

  1. Have a biomed run electrical safety tests

The tests measure protective earth resistance and earth, enclosure, patient and mains-on-applied-part leakage.

How: Ask for a safety-analyzer run covering the plug and cord, enclosure, labels, earth resistance and every leakage test, with earth leakage run before the others.

  2. Inspect the power cord, plug and adapter

A cracked or swollen adapter, a damaged cord or strain relief, or a plug that warms in use is an electrical fault.

How: Look for wrinkles, cracks or wear on the cable and plug, bent, broken or discolored pins and a cracked or swollen adapter, and check by hand for looseness or a break.

  3. Inspect the enclosure for cracks and fluid residue

Fluid that leaks into the monitor or system can cause electric shock or system failure.

How: Look for cracked covers, spill residue, loose or missing parts, rattles inside the case, taped notes about faults and missing or illegible labels, and ask whether cleaner was ever sprayed straight onto the screen or control panel.

  4. Confirm every probe is Mindray-provided or specified

Probes that Mindray did not provide or specify may damage the system or cause a fire.

How: Check the model name on each probe offered and turn down any aftermarket probe.

Common questions about the Mindray TE7 Max

Is the Mindray TE7 Max FDA-cleared?

Yes. The TE7 Max is FDA-cleared under 510(k) K203391, found substantially equivalent on March 23, 2021. The clearance names the TE7, TE5, TE7 Max, TE5 Max and TE9 together as one diagnostic ultrasound system, a Class II device under 21 CFR 892.1550 with product codes IYN, IYO and ITX.

Does the TE7 end-of-service notice cover the TE7 Max?

No, it names the TE7, not the TE7 Max. Mindray North America's letter of December 12, 2024 concerns TE7 units with serial numbers starting 7P: parts support and repair center services end by December 31, 2025, and technical support by December 31, 2026.

What warranty does Mindray give on the TE7 Max?

Mindray North America's standard warranty runs 5 years on systems bought directly from it, covering the system and parts, standard transducers and on-site labor for cart repairs; specialty transducers, including TEE and 4D, carry one year. Warranties through Mindray's agents vary.

Living Technology includes 5 years of software updates, and upgrades such as new application packages and hardware are optional purchases. Those updates and upgrades are available for systems under warranty, with installation not included.

Is the TE7 Max T the same as the TE7 Max?

The TE7 Max T is a separately named Mindray system, placed among its private-office ultrasound systems, and it also has a 21.5-inch vertically oriented display. Treat them as two models, and check the exact model name on any unit offered.
