What to check when buying a used Mindray TE Air

  1. Reject a cracked, swollen or deformed probe

Mindray treats peeling, rifts, bumps, cracks or liquid spill on the probe as the end of its service life.

How: Look over the probe head for cracks or swelling and the body for any deformation or damage.

  2. Have a biomed run the patient leakage test

A probe that fails the test must be taken out of use and handled by Mindray's service engineers.

How: After checking for liquid residue and any scorch or smoke smell, the biomed immerses the probe's acoustic head in sodium chloride solution and measures leakage with a safety analyzer.

  3. Inspect the charging port, cable and adapter

Mindray does not supply the power adapter, so the one offered with the probe has to meet the probe's input rating.

How: Look for damage at the probe's charging port, wrinkles, cracks or aging on the cable, and cracks or swelling on the adapter, then check that its plug seats firmly.

  4. Confirm the built-in battery charges and runs scans

The battery sits inside the probe, and only Mindray-trained technical staff may install or remove it.

How: Charge it with the probe switched on, scan with the probe unplugged, and if runtime seems short, read the battery self-check result.

Common questions about the Mindray TE Air

Is the Mindray TE Air FDA-cleared?

Yes. It was first cleared under 510(k) K220051 on March 4, 2022, as the TE Air Diagnostic Ultrasound System, a Class II device under 21 CFR 892.1550, for abdominal, pediatric, thoracic and pleural, adult and pediatric cardiac, neonatal and adult cephalic, and urology exams.

Three later clearances followed. K231685 (October 26, 2023) added Android support and moved the iOS requirement from iOS 12 to iOS 13; K240906 (July 23, 2024) added small organ, musculoskeletal and peripheral vessel uses, the z3P, z3Ps, z3Pt, e3P, e3Ps, e3Pt, a3Px, i5M, z5M, z5Ms, z5Mt, e5M, e5Ms, e5Mt and a5Mx transducers, and software options; K250024 (May 30, 2025) added AirSight, Mindray's customized Android platform, as a host option.

What is the difference between the TE Air i3P and the TE Air e5M?

The TE Air i3P is a phased-array probe with 64 elements, a 2.0–4.0 MHz bandwidth and 11 exam presets, for cardiac, abdominal, thoracic and pleural, urology and cephalic exams.

The TE Air e5M, announced on November 19, 2025, switches between linear and convex settings and has 22 exam presets, for cardiac, abdominal, thoracic and pleural, OB/GYN, vascular, urology, MSK, nerve and small-organ exams.

Does the Mindray TE Air need a subscription?

No. There is no subscription plan: everything is paid at purchase, and app updates arrive through the app store.

What warranty does Mindray give on the TE Air?

Bought directly from Mindray in North America, the wireless transducer has a 3-year standard warranty covering normal wear and failure, and accessories such as the USB charging cable and the Air Capsule have 1 year.

The phone or tablet that runs the app is not covered, and software performance updates through Living Technology are part of the standard warranty.
