What to check when buying a used GE Voluson S10 Expert

  1. Check any IC9-RS against recall Z-0865-2024

Certain IC9-RS probes can show a double-image artifact, a ghost image with realistic features, which one investigation traced to a known resistor malfunction.

How: Match the probe's serial number to the recall's affected list, ask for its correction history, and run the Double Image artifact test, rejecting any probe that shows the artifact.

  2. Check biopsy-guide alignment on any RIC5-9A-RS

Recall Z-1965-2019, since terminated, concerned possible transducer mis-alignment in certain repaired RIC5-9A-RS transvaginal probes used to guide biopsies.

How: Ask whether the probe has been repaired, and before any biopsy, check its alignment following the Basic User Manual's biopsy setup and safety instructions.

  3. Confirm 3D/4D and every quoted option is enabled

In the BT22 configuration, 3D/4D, Radiantflow, HDlive Silhouette, Uterine Trace, STIC, SonoVCADheart, Elastography and other tools are additional options, not standard.

How: Have every option a quote names demonstrated on the unit itself, starting with 3D/4D.

  4. Confirm the software level and its AI tools

Probe compatibility depends on the software release, and SonoCNS, Uterine Trace and Sonobiometry Brain came to the Voluson S series with the K213642 clearance.

How: Have the installed version shown on the unit (version names include BT22, SPC330 and SPC340) and confirm each probe offered works on it.
